Kashubian embroidery patterns
Known since the 13th century, used until today to decorate table cloths, furniture, porcelain and clothing. It uses only 7 colours: 3 shades of blue (reflecting Kashubian lakes, Baltic sea and the sky), yellow (as crops in the field), green (as forests), red (as blood) and black (as soil) and a variety of floral patterns including forget-me-not, pinks, cornflowers, cherries and the Tree of Life with branches which cannot cross or overlap because human life should be simple and clear.
